Invisalign has been used for years to effectively straighten teeth and correct a range of orthodontic problems. This clear aligner system is superior to traditional braces because the trays are clear, allowing you to straighten your teeth without having to wear bulky metal wires and brackets. Invisalign is suitable for teens and adults who want or need to straighten their teeth.

What is Invisalign?
Invisalign uses a clear system of trays that apply gentle pressure onto your teeth. The system is great for orthodontic problems like crowding, crookedness, spacing, and even underbites and overbites. Invisalign has been utilized for many years and is the go-to choice for patients who want to get the most out of their orthodontic treatment. Because the system is great for both teens and adults, you can benefit at any age from orthodontic treatment that is easy, affordable, and incredibly effective.

How Long Does it Take to Straighten Teeth?
Invisalign can take anywhere from six months to about two years to straighten teeth fully. The average time for users to wear their Invisalign is about 18 months. Each individual patient will have different needs concerning their own treatment. If you have severe crowding, crookedness, or a serious overbite and underbite, you may need to wear your Invisalign longer than if you only had minor issues. You will have a thorough consultation before the Invisalign treatment is started for you, and before you actually have the trays made. During the consultation, we can tell you how long you can expect to be in your Invisalign trays.

Improving Your Treatment with Invisalign
In order to improve treatment and not extend the time it takes to properly straighten your teeth, it’s important that you wear your Invisalign trays for at least 22 hours every day. Try to only take them out when eating, and when brushing and flossing your teeth. You should ideally wear them as much as possible both day and night. By keeping your Invisalign trays in, you’ll experience quicker results and your treatment will not be unnecessarily prolonged. You should also need to make sure to visit the office regularly for routine orthodontic appointments. You will need to have several Invisalign trays made during the course of treatment, and these can only made if you come in for regular visits. Our goal is to provide you with quick and efficient orthodontic care using a tried and trusted method.

For patients who are completely missing one or more of their teeth, dental implants can restore your smile and enhance your confidence. Implants are surgically placed underneath the gum line and into the bone of your jaw. In less than six months, the titanium implant fuses with the bone and creates a reliable, secure anchor for restorations. The implant is designed to last a lifetime, and will likely never need to be repaired or replaced. It is important to give the implant adequate time to heal so that it can stay securely in place.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?
A dental implant does not require compromising surrounding teeth to fill in the area where a tooth is missing. While fixed dental bridges are still a great option for many patients, they require filing down and reshaping surrounding teeth. Partial dentures can help with replacing missing teeth, but they are removable and may not be for everyone. Dental implants are a lifelong restoration that helps to replace missing dentition, without the need to touch other teeth.

Who is a Good Candidate for the Procedure?
Dental implants need to be surgically inserted beneath the gum line and into the bone. If you have poor bone density, or have an auto immune disease that can affect your body’s ability to heal, implants may not be the best option for you. Before surgery, we will do an examination and take a series of x-rays to determine if implants are right for you. Most healthy adults who want implants can have them placed. The benefits of dental implants outweigh any risks that might be involved. With proper care, your implant will heal in less than six months.

How to Have an Implant Placed
To have an implant placed, you’ll first need to come in to have a consultation with our doctors. The procedure itself involves surgically placing a titanium implant underneath the gums and into the bone. Small holes present in the implant fuse with the bone over the course of several months. Once the implant has fully healed and is securely in place, we can fit you with a dental crown to restore fullness to your smile.
